The county next door

Wedding photography and film in Hampshire.

We are one in-house team: Aaron photographs, Hayden films, and Hampshire is the county right next to us, closest around Havant and Petersfield and reaching across to the Solent and the Downs.

We should be straight about where we are, because it is the first thing a Hampshire couple deserves to know. Robinson Martin Green is a two-person wedding studio based at Mudberry Lane on the western edge of Chichester, which sits in West Sussex rather than Hampshire. That said, the county line is barely a line to us here. Havant is about 8 miles away over the top of Chichester Harbour, roughly 20 minutes door to door, Petersfield is about 20 miles up the A3, and the whole eastern side of Hampshire is closer to our front door than parts of our own county are. Eastleigh, Southampton and Winchester run 35 to 45 miles out, so those we plan as a proper trip and price honestly.

Aaron shoots the photographs, Hayden shoots the film, and the reason to book us as one studio is the coordination you never have to do. Most couples set out to hire a photographer and then a separate videographer, and the hidden cost of that lands on you, two timelines to chase, two sets of questions about when the speeches start, and two people who each want you to themselves for portraits. Booking the photographs and the film together removes all of it. There is one timeline, one shot list, one point of contact, and one plan for how the two of us move through your day without ending up in each other’s frames.

And we will not overclaim on Hampshire. We are a new studio with a small number of real weddings behind us, and none of them was in Hampshire, so you will not find an invented Hampshire couple on this page to make us look busier than we are. What we can show you is real work, shot a short drive from the county line, by the same two people who would come and cover your day. We would rather show you one wedding we are proud of than pad a page with places we have not been.

Ceremony in Horsham · reception at The Highdown

Their day ran the way plenty of Hampshire weddings run, a ceremony in one town and a reception a proper drive away, so it is a fair thing to show you even though it happened over the border in West Sussex. In the weeks before, we sent them a written list of the photographs and the film moments we planned to cover, so nothing important rested on memory. The same two of us stayed with them from the morning preparations through to the evening, around 12 hours in all, and the whole day came back as one set of pictures rather than two halves stitched together. Their edited gallery landed in their private Wedding Hub a few weeks later, alongside the film, in one place rather than split across two suppliers.

RMG was absolutely fantastic at capturing our special day. Everyone made us feel so comfortable from the start. Their organisation and professionalism put us at ease, and we knew we were in good hands. They provided us with a list of photos and videos, ensuring a wide variety of options that perfectly captured our wedding day. We were thrilled with the results, our family can now cherish these moments forever. We can’t thank them enough for their incredible work.Becky & Lucas

    FAQs

    Common questions from Hampshire couples.

You are based in Chichester, in West Sussex. How much of Hampshire do you actually cover?

All of it, with honesty about the distances. Havant is only about 8 miles from us over the top of the harbour, around 20 minutes door to door, and Petersfield is about 20 miles up the A3, so the eastern side of the county is close ground. We travel further across Hampshire for the right wedding, out to Eastleigh, Southampton, Winchester and Portsmouth at 35 to 45 miles, and we build that drive into the plan and arrive early rather than cutting it fine. We would rather tell you plainly that Winchester is a longer trip for us than pretend the whole county is on our doorstep.

Our venue is on the Solent coast rather than up in the Downs. Does that change how you shoot?

It changes the light and the timing more than the approach. Open water light around the Solent and the harbour is bright and can go hard in the early afternoon, while a wooded estate up under the South Downs holds softer light later into the day. We plan the portrait timings around which of the two you have, and for a venue we have not worked at before we go and look at it ahead of the day, so those calls are made before anyone is standing around waiting.

We are having a register office ceremony in Hampshire, not a big country house wedding. Is full coverage still worth it?

Often more so, because register office days usually split across two places, a ceremony in one and a reception somewhere else, and the drive between them is part of the day. Becky and Lucas married at a register office in Horsham and celebrated at The Highdown near Worthing, and their photographs read as one day rather than two events. If a shorter booking suits your plans better, we will say so rather than sell you hours you do not need.

How far ahead do Hampshire dates get booked?

Popular Saturdays from late spring to early autumn tend to go 12 to 18 months out, and the best known venues fill first. Dates outside that window move more slowly, and shorter notice gaps do come up, so it is worth asking even if your wedding is only a few months away. Because Hampshire is the next county over for us rather than a distant one, our travelling in from West Sussex is rarely the thing that stops a date working.
