Eastleigh & the Itchen valley

Wedding photography and film in Eastleigh.

One team covers both the photographs and the film. We cover Eastleigh and the countryside around it, never two strangers competing for the same shot.

Most couples in Eastleigh start out planning to hire a photographer and, separately, a videographer. It seems like the obvious way to do it. The hidden cost is coordination, and it lands on you. Two suppliers means two timelines to chase, two sets of questions about when the speeches start, and two people who each want the couple to themselves for portraits at exactly the same point in the day. On a tight Eastleigh schedule, with a ceremony near the River Itchen and a reception to reach afterwards, that second team pulling in its own direction is the last thing you want to be managing in your own wedding photos.

There is a knock-on problem too. A photographer and a filmmaker who have never worked together end up in each other’s shots. You see it in the finished film, a stranger with a camera drifting through the background of your first dance, and in the photographs, a second tripod parked where the light was meant to be. Neither supplier is at fault. They simply were not planning as one, and it was never their job to.

    How we do it differently

One team for photo and film instead.

We are Robinson Martin Green, a two-person studio based at Mudberry Lane in Chichester, and we fix that by being one team rather than two. Aaron Robinson shoots the stills and Hayden Martin-Green shoots the film, and we work as a single unit on the day. Booking the photographs and the film as one studio removes the coordination entirely. There is one timeline, one shot list, one point of contact, and one shared plan for how the two of us move through your day.

We should be straight about where we stand with Eastleigh. It is around thirty miles from us, over towards Southampton, comfortably inside the area we cover but not on our doorstep. We have not yet documented a wedding in Eastleigh itself, and we would rather tell you that than invent a local couple to fill the page. What we can show you is full weddings we have covered an easy drive away, and the same two people will be the ones who turn up for you.

How we would cover your day

    How your day would run.

Because we plan as one team, an Eastleigh day runs to a single shared plan rather than two that compete. This is roughly how it goes.

    1. 1

      We visit the venue first

For anywhere we have not shot, we walk the ceremony space, find where the light will be at your service time, and mark the spots for portraits, so the first time we work there is not on the day itself.

    2. 2

We build one timeline with you

Not two competing schedules, one order of the day that covers both stills and film, agreed with you in advance around the moments that matter to you specifically.

    3. 3

      We split the room deliberately

On the day, one of us reads the light and the wider scene while the other stays on you, so nothing important rests on a single person and we are never both chasing the same frame.

    4. 4

We stay with you across sites

If your day moves, from a ceremony by the Itchen to a reception elsewhere in the Hamble valley, we cover both so the morning and the evening come back as one connected set rather than two separate halves.

The venues we would be ready for

    • Chilworth Manor at Chilworth, SO16 7PT, an Edwardian manor house set in twelve acres of grounds on the leafy edge of Southampton, about five miles from Eastleigh and a similar distance from Southampton Parkway station.
    • Botleigh Grange at Hedge End, a country house hotel on around fourteen acres with fishing lakes and open grounds, roughly four miles from Eastleigh towards the Hamble valley.
    • Lakeside Country Park in Eastleigh itself, a waterside setting built around two lakes, with the Lakeside centre and neighbouring venues used for functions right on the town’s doorstep.
    • The River Itchen and the Hamble valley more widely, the water and open countryside that give an Eastleigh day a backdrop beyond the town centre.

    Good to know

    Common questions from Eastleigh couples.

Have you shot in Eastleigh before?

Not yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. Eastleigh is inside the area we cover but it is not on our doorstep, and our real weddings so far are closer to home rather than in Eastleigh itself. For any venue there we visit ahead of the day so we already know the ceremony space, the light and the spots for portraits before we arrive with you.

You are based near Chichester. How far is that, and does travel cost extra?

Eastleigh is about thirty miles from Mudberry Lane, over towards Southampton. It is well within the area we cover and travel is built into the way we quote. We would always tell you upfront if a venue fell outside our normal area, rather than adding a charge quietly later.

Why book one studio for both photo and film?

Because it removes the coordination problem from your plate. One team means one timeline, one point of contact, and two people who have already agreed who stands where. You are not refereeing two separate suppliers during your own ceremony, and neither of us ends up in the other’s shots.

Do we get the photos and the film from the same people?

Yes. The two people you meet and book are the two people who turn up and the two people who deliver the work. There is no sending a different crew on the day, which is a real risk with larger outfits and something we think couples should ask every supplier about.

How far in advance should we book an Eastleigh date?

Popular dates from late spring through to early autumn tend to go twelve to eighteen months out. Shorter notice does come up, so it is worth asking even if your date is only a few months away.

    Why couples choose us

The same two people all day.

The short version is that you get one team, not two, and the two people you speak to are the two people who show up. There is no account manager in the middle and no crew you have never met arriving on the morning. We shoot photo and film together, to one plan, so the photographs and the film match, rather than two suppliers’ separate versions stitched together afterwards.

We are also honest about what we have and have not done, which is the whole point of this page. We have full weddings we can show you, an easy drive from Eastleigh, and we would rather point you at that than dress the page up with a couple who does not exist. When you are ready, tell us your date and your venue and we will tell you straight away whether we are free.
