Wedding films in Surrey.
We are one in-house team for photos and film. Hayden films your Surrey day while Aaron shoots stills alongside, so the sound, the vows and the speeches come home with you, not just the pictures.
A film records the sound too.
A photograph of the view from Box Hill is a lovely thing to have on the wall. It cannot give you back the sound. It will not have the sound of the vows, the laughter in the room during the best man’s speech, or the music as you walked back down the aisle. A film records all of that. That is the whole reason to book one, because the sound of the day comes home with you as well as the pictures.
We are Robinson Martin Green, based at Mudberry Lane in Chichester, just over the West Sussex border, and we should be straight with you from the start. We are not a Surrey company, we travel into Surrey. The western side is closest, Haslemere about eighteen miles up the road and Farnham around thirty, with the eastern towns like Dorking and Reigate a longer run at roughly thirty-five to forty miles. The films are led by Hayden Martin-Green, who shoots and cuts them, with Aaron Robinson on stills working the same day beside him. We haven’t filmed a wedding in Surrey yet, so we won’t invent a Surrey couple to fill this page. What we do have are full wedding films from real weddings a short drive from the county, filmed by the two people who would come and film yours.
Surrey films well, and it gives a filmmaker two very different looks in one county. The wooded bowl of the Devil’s Punch Bowl and the greensand hills on the Haslemere side are close and green, made for the intimate, moving shots early and late in the day. Push east and the chalk of the North Downs opens out above Dorking, and in the final hour before sunset the light shifts fast enough over Box Hill and the Surrey Hills that a filmmaker who is watching for it can catch the whole ridge turning gold. We plan the day around the picture and the sound together, because a wedding film that looks lovely and loses the words halfway through the vows has missed the point.
Why we would say book the film.
Most couples plan the photographs first and leave the film as the thing they might add later. Then the day passes in a blur of adrenaline, the speeches happen once, the first dance happens once, and there’s no way to go back and record any of it again. Stills freeze how it looked. Only a film gives you the movement and the sound, so you hear the speeches, the vows and the room again. It’s the one part of the day you cannot make again afterwards, so it is worth deciding on early.
The parts of the day we film.
A Surrey wedding film has more than one look in it, and the county gives you all three across a single day. The first is the morning, the two or three hours of getting ready, the details and the walk down to the ceremony. The second is the middle of the day, the venue itself, the country house or the barn, the part most couples picture when they imagine the film. The third is the evening, when a wedding in the Surrey Hills looks its best on camera. As the sun drops behind the North Downs the last of the light comes low and warm across the ridge, and a couple walking out for five or ten minutes at that point gives you some of the best evening footage of the day.
The reception films differently again. First dances, speeches and the noise of a full room need the sound as much as the picture, so we keep recording the room while we film it, and the finished piece carries the laugh that ran through the best man’s speech and the first few bars of your first dance as they actually sounded, not a track dropped over the top.

How your Surrey day gets filmed.
Because Hayden films while Aaron photographs, there is one team, one plan and one point of contact rather than two suppliers meeting for the first time at your ceremony. That matters more on film than it does on stills. A videographer who has never met your photographer ends up in half their shots and competing for the aisle during the vows, and you are the one caught in the middle asking two strangers to sort it out. We have already agreed who stands where before you walk in, so the camera can hold on you without a second shooter drifting into frame.
Hayden films the ceremony on two cameras, one held on the couple and one wider on the room, so a missed reaction on one angle is caught on the other and the vows are never lost to a blocked shot. Sound runs on three channels at once, a mic on the groom, a mic on the officiant and a recorder by the top table, so the words are never left to the camera mic. Because the weddings we have covered so far have been closer to home, most Surrey venues are new to us, so we walk the venue first and never film there for the first time on your actual day. We work out where the sound is clean, where the light will be at your ceremony hour, and where the drone can fly if the venue and the airspace allow it. Nothing gets staged twice for the two cameras. You are filmed and photographed at the same time, then handed back to your guests.
How the film is delivered.
The edit is where a wedding film is actually made, and it is worth knowing what happens after the day. We work through the footage and the recorded sound, choose the moments, and cut your wedding film, usually within eight to ten weeks of a Surrey day. It lands in your private Wedding Hub, the same place your photographs are delivered, so the film and the gallery sit together in one spot. On Silver and Gold a short teaser comes through first, so there is something to share while the film is still in progress. Because both your film and your photographs come from us, there is one delivery, one login, and one team to talk to if you want a change.

Questions from couples booking a film.
Do you record the actual speeches and vows, or lay music over silent footage?
We record the actual sound. Two discreet microphones, one on the groom and one on the officiant, catch the vows and the readings, and a separate recorder by the top table picks up the speeches, so what you hear in the finished film is the words from your day rather than a song over silent pictures. The music sits underneath that audio, not in place of it. Sound is the whole reason to book a film, so we never skimp on it, however far into Surrey the venue is.
How long is a Surrey wedding film, and is there a teaser?
Each couple gets one edited wedding film, and every collection includes it, so there is no longer edit to add on. Its length depends on the day, and Adam and Panha’s film lasts just under six minutes. Silver and Gold bring a short teaser to share early as well, and the speeches go into the film in full. The teaser comes first, then the film lands in your private Wedding Hub, usually within eight to ten weeks of the day.
Can we have drone footage over the Surrey Hills or a short reel for social?
Where the venue and the conditions allow it, yes to both. The North Downs and the open country of the Surrey Hills are made for an aerial shot, and Box Hill light late in the day gives you something you will not get from the ground. We clear the airspace and any permissions in advance rather than on the day, and if flying is not possible because of weather or a restriction we tell you beforehand and cover it from the ground instead. We can also cut a short vertical teaser, around sixty seconds, sized for Instagram and TikTok, so you have something to share while the full film is still being edited.
Can we book the film on its own, or does it come with photography?
Film can be booked on its own if you already have a photographer, and it works well because we plan around whoever else is covering the day. Most couples book both with us so one in-house team runs the whole thing on one plan, which is the setup we would recommend, but the film does not depend on it. Wherever your Surrey venue is, we tell you the travel and any cost that comes with it upfront.
