Brookfield Barn & Horsham

    Wedding films at Brookfield Barn.

Photography and film come from one in-house team. Hayden films your Brookfield day while Aaron shoots stills alongside, so the sound, the vows and the speeches by the lake come home with you, not just the pictures.

Why a film, not just photographs

What a film gives you that photos do not.

A photograph of the lake at Brookfield is a lovely thing to have on the wall. It cannot give you back the sound. It will not have the sound of the vows out by the water, the laughter in the barn during the best man’s speech, or the music as you walked back down the aisle. A film keeps all of that. That is the whole reason to book one, so you keep the sound of the day as well as the pictures.

We are Robinson Martin Green, based in Chichester, and Brookfield Barn sits over at Lower Beeding outside Horsham, well inside the area we cover. The films are led by Hayden Martin-Green, who shoots and cuts them, with Aaron Robinson on stills working the same day beside him.

We should be straight with you from the start. We cover Horsham but we have not filmed a wedding at Brookfield Barn itself yet, so we will not invent a Brookfield couple to fill this page. What we do have are real wedding films from days a short drive away, filmed by the two people who would come and film yours.

Brookfield films well, and the lake is why. An outdoor ceremony at the water’s edge gives you reflections and a moving backdrop you do not get in a dry field, and in the last hour before sunset the light drops low across the 22 acres and the whole grounds turn gold for a filmmaker who is watching for it. Sound is the other thing this venue asks you to plan for. Vows spoken outside by open water can wash out on a cheap recording, so we mic the ceremony properly rather than trusting a camera to catch it across the lawn. We plan the day around both, the picture and the sound, because a wedding film that looks lovely and loses the words halfway through the vows has missed the point.

    Adding a film

You cannot film it again later.

Most couples plan the photographs first and leave the film as the thing they might add later. Then the day passes in a blur of adrenaline, the speeches happen once, the first dance happens once, and there is no way to go back and record any of it again. Stills freeze how it looked. Only a film gives you the movement and the sound, including the speeches as they were given and the barn going quiet for the rings. It is the one part of the day you cannot make again afterwards, which is why we suggest booking the film early.

    The first kiss
    Filming the grounds

From getting ready to the first dance.

A Brookfield wedding film has more than one look in it, and the venue gives you all of them in a single day around the same lake. In the morning we film the getting ready shots split across the two preparation spaces, the Lodge and the Lakeview suite, the details and the walk down to the water. The middle of the day is the lakeside ceremony and the drinks on the south-facing terrace, the part most couples picture when they imagine the film.

Then the evening arrives, and this is where 22 acres of countryside earn the film. As the sun drops the last of the light comes low and warm across the grounds, and a couple walking out by the lake at that point gives you the closing shots of the film. With the barn seating up to 138 and 11 bedrooms on site, the celebration runs late without anyone having to leave, and a late reception suits a filmmaker who wants the first dance and the noise of a full room.

    On the day

How your Brookfield day gets filmed.

Because Hayden films while Aaron photographs, there is one team, one plan and one point of contact rather than two suppliers meeting for the first time at your ceremony. That matters more on film than it does on stills. A videographer who has never met your photographer ends up in half their shots and competing for the aisle during the vows, and you are the one caught in the middle asking two strangers to sort it out. We have already agreed who stands where before you walk in, so the camera can hold on you without a second shooter drifting into frame.

Hayden films the ceremony on two cameras, one held on the couple and one wider on the room, so a missed reaction on one angle is caught on the other and the vows are never lost to a blocked shot. Because we have not filmed at Brookfield yet, we would walk the venue first, so the first time we film by that lake is not on your actual day.

We work out where the sound is clean at an outdoor ceremony, where the light will be at your ceremony hour, and where the drone can fly across the grounds if the venue allows it. Nothing gets staged twice for the two cameras. You are filmed and photographed at the same time, then handed back to your guests.

    After the day

    Editing and delivery.

The edit is where a wedding film is actually made, and it is worth knowing what happens after the day. We work through the footage and the recorded sound, choose the moments, and shape them into your wedding film, usually within eight to ten weeks. It lands in your private Wedding Hub, the same place your photographs are delivered, so the film and the gallery sit together in one spot. Couples on Silver or Gold get a short teaser in the Hub before that, ready to share while we finish the edit. Because both your film and your photographs come from us, there is one delivery, one login, and one team to talk to if you want a change.

    Before you ask

Questions from couples booking a film.

Do you record the speeches and the vows, or just play music over pretty shots?

We record the actual sound. Two discreet microphones, one on the groom and one on the officiant, catch the vows and the readings out by the lake, and a separate recorder by the top table picks up the speeches in the barn, so what you hear in the finished film is the words from the day rather than a song laid over silent footage. The music sits underneath that audio, not in place of it.

Is there one film or two, and when does the teaser come?

One. Every collection includes an edited wedding film, and there is no second, longer version on top. Its length comes from the shape of your day rather than a fixed running time. Silver and Gold add a short teaser to share early, and the speeches recorded in full inside the film. The teaser arrives first, and the finished film lands in your private Wedding Hub, usually within eight to ten weeks of the day.

Can we have drone footage of the lake and the grounds, or a short reel for social?

Where the venue and the conditions allow it, yes to both. The lake and the open 22 acres at Brookfield are made for an aerial shot, and we clear the airspace and permissions in advance rather than on the day. If flying is not possible because of weather or a restriction, we tell you beforehand and cover it from the ground instead. We can also cut a short vertical teaser, around sixty seconds, sized for Instagram and TikTok, so you have something to share in the days after the wedding while the full film is still being edited.

Can we book the film on its own, or does it come with photography?

Film can be booked on its own if you already have a photographer, and it works well because we plan around whoever else is covering the day. Most couples book both with us so one in-house team runs the whole thing on one plan, which is the setup we would recommend, but the film does not depend on it.
