Haywards Heath & the High Weald

Wedding photography and film in Haywards Heath.

Your photographs and your film come from one in-house team. We cover Haywards Heath and the great gardens and estates around it, never two strangers competing for the same shot.

Haywards Heath is garden country. It sits in the High Weald ringed by some of the finest gardens in England, Wakehurst and Borde Hill among them, and for a photographer that is a gift that keeps changing through the year, bluebells and rhododendrons in spring, deep green in summer, fire in autumn. A mansion estate gives you grand panelled rooms and acres of planting in a single place. We are Robinson Martin Green, a two-person studio based at Mudberry Lane near Chichester, and we cover Haywards Heath weddings across the High Weald as one team that shoots both the photographs and the film.

The team is Aaron Robinson on stills and Hayden Martin-Green on film. We work as one unit on the day rather than two suppliers who met for the first time that morning. In a mansion gallery or out among the planting, a photographer and a filmmaker who have not worked together end up in each other’s frames and fighting for the same angle during the vows. We have already agreed who stands where, so neither of us blocks the other and you are not the one trying to keep two strangers apart.

We should be straight about this. Haywards Heath is about thirty miles from our base and well inside the area we cover, but we have not yet documented a wedding in the town itself. We would rather tell you that plainly than dress up a page with a Haywards Heath couple who does not exist. What we can show you is real work elsewhere in Sussex, and the same two people will be the ones who turn up for you.

How we would cover a Haywards Heath day

One team for photo and film.

Most couples start out planning to hire a photographer and a separate videographer. The hidden cost of that is coordination, and it lands on you. Two suppliers means two timelines to chase, two sets of questions about when the speeches start, and two people who each want the couple to themselves for portraits. Booking the photographs and the film as one studio removes all of that. There is one timeline, one shot list, one point of contact, and one shared plan for how Aaron and Hayden move through your day.

For a Haywards Heath day that usually means a drive across from Chichester in the morning, an exclusive-use estate handled by a proper walk-round beforehand, and two of us reading the same light so nothing important rests on one person. The gardens give beautiful, changing light, so we plan the portrait route around what is in colour on your date and hold a little back for the last hour when the low sun runs across the lawns. We run stills and film side by side without staging anything twice, agree the moments that matter to you specifically, and stay with you from the getting-ready through to the evening so the whole day comes back as one set.

Haywards Heath and the High Weald

    • Wakehurst near Ardingly, Kew’s wild botanic garden with an Elizabethan mansion whose Gallery is licensed for civil ceremonies and taken on an exclusive-use basis. The panelled rooms and the sweeping staircase photograph with real grandeur, and hundreds of acres of botanic garden give portraits colour and depth right through the year.
    • Borde Hill Garden, the world-renowned garden on the edge of the town, a series of formal garden rooms and parkland views that give a photographer very different backdrops in one place.
    • Haywards Heath Town Hall and its licensed Jubilee Room, an intimate, versatile option for a smaller ceremony close to the centre of town.
    • The wider High Weald around the town, its woodland, the reservoir at Ardingly and the old Sussex lanes, for couples who want the gardens and the countryside in the frame.
    The ground around Haywards Heath

A few of the Haywards Heath settings we are set up for.

Real venues in and around the town, each with something specific to plan around. We visit any of them ahead of your day so the first time we shoot there is not on the day itself.

Real work, not a stock gallery

The nearest day we can actually show you.

We would rather point you at a real wedding than pad this page with a testimonial from a Haywards Heath couple we have never met. The closest documented day is Becky and Lucas, which ran from Horsham through to The Highdown, the same county and the same two people you would be booking. It is not Haywards Heath, and we are not going to dress it up as if it were, but it is an honest look at how we work across a full day rather than a set of staged sample shots.

    FAQs

Common questions from Haywards Heath couples.

Have you photographed at Wakehurst or Borde Hill before?

Not yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. Our documented weddings are elsewhere in Sussex rather than in Haywards Heath itself. For any venue we have not worked at, we go and visit ahead of the day so we already know the ceremony room, where the light falls through the planting and the best spots for portraits before we turn up with you. A mansion gallery or a great garden is a known quantity to plan around even on a first booking.

The gardens change so much through the year. How does that shape the photographs?

It is one of the best things about a garden wedding here, and we plan for it. Spring gives you bluebells and rhododendrons, high summer deep green and long light, and autumn turns the whole High Weald gold and copper. We look at what will be in colour on your date and build the portrait route around it, then hold a little time back for the last hour when the low light runs across the lawns. Two of us means one can be reading the light while the other stays on you.

You are based near Chichester. Does travel to Haywards Heath cost extra?

Haywards Heath is about thirty miles from Mudberry Lane, across Sussex and well inside the area we cover, so there is no separate travel charge for it. We would tell you upfront if a venue ever fell outside that, rather than adding it quietly later.
