Burgess Hill & mid-Sussex

    Wedding films in Burgess Hill.

We are one in-house team for photos and film, and close to home. Hayden films your Burgess Hill day while Aaron shoots stills alongside, so the vows, the speeches and the sound of the room come home with you.

Why a film, not only photographs

What the film has that photos do not.

A photograph of the Italian Garden at Borde Hill will look wonderful on the wall. What it can’t give you back is the sound of the day. It won’t have the sound of the vows, the laughter that filled the room during the speeches, or the first few bars of the song you walked back down the aisle to. A film keeps every bit of that, which is the main reason to book one.

We are Robinson Martin Green, based at Mudberry Lane near Chichester, and Burgess Hill is about twenty-five miles from us, along the foot of the Downs and inside our own county. The films are led by Hayden Martin-Green, who shoots and cuts them, with Aaron Robinson on stills working the same day beside him. We’ll be straight with you. Close as it is, we haven’t filmed a wedding in Burgess Hill yet, and we’re not going to invent a couple to fill this page. What we do have are full wedding films from days a short drive away in the same county, filmed by the two people who would come and film yours.

Being close is the honest advantage here, because a good film is made as much before the day as on it. The mid-Sussex venues each give the camera something particular to plan for. A ceremony inside the old beamed rooms at Ockenden Manor holds a voice close and warm, so the vows land clean on the recording without the wind you fight in an open field. The gardens at Borde Hill and the grounds around Cuckfield give movement instead, the camera drifting through the planting as the afternoon light turns. And because we are only up the road, we can come and walk the room and listen to how the sound behaves ahead of time, rather than meeting your venue for the first time on the morning of the wedding.

Why we would say book the film.

Most couples lock in the photographs early and leave the film as a maybe. Then the day arrives and runs away with itself, the speeches land once, the first dance happens once, and there is no going back the next week to record any of it again. Stills capture how it all looked. A film is the only thing that hands you back the movement and the sound, a grandmother’s voice breaking during a reading, the second of silence before the rings, a room full of people you love making a noise you won’t forget. That’s the part of a wedding you can’t recreate afterwards, and it’s the part couples most often wish, once the day has gone, that they’d put on film.

    Filming in mid-Sussex

The parts of the day we film.

A Burgess Hill wedding film carries several looks across a single day, and the manor and garden venues give you all of them. In the morning we film the getting-ready shots, the details and the walk to the ceremony. The middle of the day is the vows and the gathered guests, the part most couples imagine when they picture their film. Then comes the evening, when the grounds below the Downs look their best on camera. As the sun drops behind the ridge the light goes low and gold across the grounds, and a couple stepping out for a few minutes then gives you the evening shots for the film.

The reception films differently again. First dances, speeches and the sound of a full room need the audio as much as the picture, so we keep the recorders running while we film, and the finished piece carries the laugh that ran through a speech and the opening bars of your first dance the way they really sounded, not a track dropped over the top.

    On the day

How your Burgess Hill day gets filmed.

Because Hayden films while Aaron photographs, you get one team, one plan and one point of contact, not two suppliers introducing themselves at your ceremony. On film this counts for even more than it does on stills. A videographer who’s never met your photographer ends up in half the pictures and competing for the aisle during the vows, and you’re the one caught between two strangers trying to sort it out. We’ve already agreed who stands where before you walk in, so the camera can stay on you without a second shooter drifting into shot.

Hayden films the ceremony on two cameras, one held on the couple and one wider on the room, so a reaction lost on one angle is caught on the other and the vows are never hidden behind a blocked shot. Because Burgess Hill is close, the walk-round we do before an unfamiliar venue like Ockenden Manor or Wickwoods is a short trip rather than an expedition, so we can properly work out where the sound stays clean, where the light will be at your ceremony hour, and where a drone can fly if the grounds allow it. Nothing gets staged twice for the two cameras. You are filmed and photographed at the same time, then handed back to your guests.

    After the day

    When your film arrives.

The edit is where a wedding film really comes together, so it helps to know what happens once the day is done. We go through the footage and the recorded sound, pick the moments, and put your wedding film together, usually within eight to ten weeks. It lands in your private Wedding Hub, the same place your photographs are delivered, so film and gallery live together under one login instead of the film arriving on a memory stick that vanishes into a drawer. On Silver and Gold a short teaser goes up first, so you have something to share while the Burgess Hill film itself is still being finished. Because both your film and your photographs come from us, there is one delivery, one login and one team to talk to if you ever want a change.

    Questions about film

Questions from Burgess Hill couples booking a film.

Do you record the vows and the speeches, or lay music over silent clips?

We record the actual sound of the day. A small microphone goes on the groom and one on whoever leads the ceremony, so the vows and the readings come through cleanly, and a separate recorder by the top table picks up the speeches. In the finished Burgess Hill film you hear the words as they were spoken, and the music sits underneath that rather than replacing a silent clip.

What does our wedding film include, and how long is it?

Every collection includes one edited wedding film, and that is the film, not a short cut with a longer edit sold alongside it. The length depends on the day, and Becky and Lucas above is an intimate one at under four minutes. Silver and Gold also record the speeches in full within the film and give you a short teaser to share early, which reaches you first. The film is delivered to your private Wedding Hub, usually within eight to ten weeks of the day.

Can we have drone footage over the mid-Sussex grounds, or a short clip for social?

Where the venue and the weather allow it, yes to both. Estate grounds and gardens like Borde Hill, and the open country below the Downs, film beautifully from the air, and we clear the airspace and permissions in advance rather than on the day. If flying is not possible we tell you beforehand and cover it from the ground. We can also cut a short vertical clip, around sixty seconds for Instagram or TikTok, so you have something to share in the days after the wedding while the full film is still being edited.

You are close by. Does that change how you plan a Burgess Hill film?

It does, and it helps. Because Burgess Hill is about twenty-five miles away in our own county, we can come and walk the venue ahead of the day without it turning into a trip, so we already know where the sound stays clean and where the light will fall at your ceremony hour before we film a frame. Being close means the scouting a good film depends on actually gets done, rather than the day itself being the first time we see the room.
