Wedding films at Goodwood House.
Photography and film come from one in-house team. Hayden films your Goodwood day while Aaron shoots stills alongside, so the sound, the vows and the speeches come home with you, not just the pictures.
What a film gives you that photos do not.
A photograph of the Ballroom at Goodwood is a beautiful thing to have on the wall. It cannot give you back the sound. It will not have the sound of the vows, the laughter in the room during the best man’s speech, or the music as you walked back down the aisle. A film keeps all of that. That is the whole reason to book one, so you keep the sound of the day as well as the pictures.
We are Robinson Martin Green, based at Mudberry Lane in Chichester, and Goodwood House sits a few miles north of us, up above the city with the South Downs behind it, well inside the area we cover. The films are led by Hayden Martin-Green, who shoots and cuts them, with Aaron Robinson on stills working the same day beside him. We should be straight with you from the start. We cover Goodwood but we have not filmed a wedding in the house itself yet, so we will not invent a Goodwood couple to fill this page. What we do have are full wedding films from days a short drive away, filmed by the two people who would come and film yours.
Goodwood films well. The house is the seat of the Dukes of Richmond, a flint building with copper-domed turrets standing in open parkland, and in the final hour before sunset the light shifts fast enough across the Downs that a filmmaker who is watching for it can catch the whole estate turning gold behind you. Sound is the other thing this venue gives you. A ceremony inside the Yellow Drawing Room holds a voice close, with none of the wind you fight in an open field, so the vows and the readings land clean on the recording rather than washing out. We would plan the day around both, the picture and the sound, because a wedding film that looks lovely and loses the words halfway through the vows has missed the point.
You cannot film it again later.
Most couples plan the photographs first and leave the film as the thing they might add later. Then the day passes in a blur of adrenaline, the speeches happen once, the first dance happens once, and there is no way to go back and record any of it again. Stills freeze how it looked. Only a film gives you the movement and the sound, including the speeches as they were given and the room going quiet for the rings. It is the one part of the day you cannot make again afterwards, which is why we suggest booking the film early.
From getting ready to the first dance.
A Goodwood wedding film has more than one look in it, and the house gives you all of them in a single day. In the morning we film the getting ready shots, the details and the walk through to the ceremony. The middle of the day is the grand rooms, the Yellow Drawing Room for the vows and the Ballroom under the Louis XV panelling and the royal portraits, the part most couples picture when they imagine the film. Then comes the evening, when an estate in the South Downs looks its best on camera. As the sun drops behind the Downs the last of the light comes low and warm across the parkland, and a couple walking out in front of the house at that point gives you the closing shots of the film.
The reception films differently again. First dances, speeches and the noise of a full Ballroom need the sound as much as the picture, so we keep recording the room while we film it, and the finished piece carries the laugh that ran through the best man’s speech and the first few bars of your first dance as they actually sounded, not a track dropped over the top.

How your Goodwood day gets filmed.
Because Hayden films while Aaron photographs, there is one team, one plan and one point of contact rather than two suppliers meeting for the first time at your ceremony. That matters more on film than it does on stills. A videographer who has never met your photographer ends up in half their shots and competing for the aisle during the vows, and you are the one caught in the middle asking two strangers to sort it out. We have already agreed who stands where before you walk in, so the camera can hold on you without a second shooter drifting into frame.
Hayden films the ceremony on two cameras, one held on the couple and one wider on the room, so a missed reaction on one angle is caught on the other and the vows are never lost to a blocked shot. For a house like Goodwood, where the day moves from the Yellow Drawing Room to the Front Hall to the Ballroom, we would walk it first, so the first time we film there is not on your actual day. We work out where the sound is clean, where the light will be at your ceremony hour, and where the drone can fly if the estate allows it. Nothing gets staged twice for the two cameras. You are filmed and photographed at the same time, then handed back to your guests.
Editing and delivery.
The edit is where a wedding film is actually made, and it is worth knowing what happens after the day. We work through the footage and the recorded sound, choose the moments, and cut the film itself, usually within eight to ten weeks. It lands in your private Wedding Hub, the same place your photographs are delivered, so the film and the gallery sit together in one spot. On Silver and Gold you see a short teaser first, so there is something to share while we finish the rest. Because both your film and your photographs come from us, there is one delivery, one login, and one team to talk to if you want a change.

Questions from couples booking a film.
Do you record the speeches and the vows, or just play music over pretty shots?
We record the actual sound. Two discreet microphones, one on the groom and one on the officiant, catch the vows and the readings in the Yellow Drawing Room, and a separate recorder by the top table picks up the speeches in the Ballroom, so what you hear in the finished film is the words from the day rather than a song laid over silent footage. The music sits underneath that audio, not in place of it.
What film do we get from a Goodwood House wedding?
You get one edited wedding film, which every collection includes, so there is no short and long version to decide on. How long it runs depends on the day, and Adam and Panha’s film is just under six minutes. With Silver or Gold the speeches are recorded in full in the film, and a short teaser comes to you first to share early. The film follows in your private Wedding Hub, usually within eight to ten weeks of the day.
Can we have drone footage of the house and the parkland, or a short reel for social?
Where the estate and the conditions allow it, yes to both. Goodwood House sits in open parkland with the South Downs behind it, which is made for an aerial shot, and we would clear the airspace and the estate’s permission in advance rather than on the day. If flying is not possible because of weather or a restriction, we tell you beforehand and cover it from the ground instead. We can also cut a short vertical teaser, around sixty seconds, sized for Instagram and TikTok, so you have something to share in the days after the wedding while the full film is still being edited.
Can we book the film on its own, or does it come with photography?
Film can be booked on its own if you already have a photographer, and it works well because we plan around whoever else is covering the day. Most couples book both with us so one in-house team runs the whole thing on one plan, which is the setup we would recommend, but the film does not depend on it.
