Shoreham-by-Sea & the Adur

Wedding photography and film in Shoreham-by-Sea.

One team covers both the photographs and the film. We cover Shoreham and the estuary, airport and Downs venues around it, never two strangers competing for the same shot.

Shoreham has a character all its own. The River Adur runs out to the sea through the middle of the town, past the famous ramshackle houseboats and under the eye of Lancing College Chapel, the vast Gothic pile on the hill. There is the 1930s Art Deco airport terminal, all curves and chrome, and the shingle beach beyond. For a photographer it is coastal but quirky, full of texture and personality rather than the working harbours further west. We are Robinson Martin Green, a two-person studio based at Mudberry Lane near Chichester, and we cover Shoreham weddings along this coast as one team that shoots both the photographs and the film.

The team is Aaron Robinson on stills and Hayden Martin-Green on film. We work as one unit on the day rather than two suppliers who met for the first time that morning. In the tight curves of an Art Deco interior or out by the estuary, a photographer and a filmmaker who have not worked together end up in each other’s frames and fighting for the same angle during the vows. We have already agreed who stands where, so neither of us blocks the other and you are not the one trying to keep two strangers apart.

We should be straight about this. Shoreham is about twenty-two miles east along the coast and well inside the area we cover, but we have not yet documented a wedding in the town itself. We would rather tell you that plainly than dress up a page with a Shoreham couple who does not exist. What we can show you is real work a short drive away, and the same two people will be the ones who turn up for you.

How we would cover a Shoreham day

One team for photo and film.

Most couples start out planning to hire a photographer and a separate videographer. The hidden cost of that is coordination, and it lands on you. Two suppliers means two timelines to chase, two sets of questions about when the speeches start, and two people who each want the couple to themselves for portraits. Booking the photographs and the film as one studio removes all of that. There is one timeline, one shot list, one point of contact, and one shared plan for how Aaron and Hayden move through your day.

For a Shoreham day that usually means a run along the coast from Chichester in the morning, an unfamiliar venue handled by a proper walk-round beforehand, and two of us reading the same light so nothing important rests on one person. Bright coastal light needs placing rather than fighting, so we plan where the good light sits at your ceremony hour and hold a little back for portraits by the estuary when the sun drops. We run stills and film side by side without staging anything twice, agree the moments that matter to you specifically, and stay with you from the getting-ready through to the evening so the whole day comes back as one set.

Shoreham, the Adur and the coast

    • Shoreham Airport, whose 1936 Art Deco terminal is a listed building and a distinctive wedding venue. The curves, the chrome and the period detail photograph like nowhere else on this coast, an interior full of character for the ceremony and the group shots.
    • The River Adur estuary, the shingle beach and the famous Shoreham houseboats, a ramshackle, much-loved waterfront that gives portraits a personality a plain backdrop never could.
    • Lancing College Chapel, the vast Gothic chapel that rises over the Adur valley and dominates the skyline, a landmark that anchors a wider portrait even when it is not the ceremony venue itself.
    • The South Downs barns a little inland, such as Upwaltham Barns in the National Park, for couples who want the coast for the portraits and a warm timber barn for the day.
    The ground around Shoreham

A few of the Shoreham settings we are set up for.

Real venues in and around the town, each with something specific to plan around. We visit any of them ahead of your day so the first time we shoot there is not on the day itself.

Real work, not a stock gallery

The nearest day we can actually show you.

We would rather point you at a real wedding than pad this page with a testimonial from a Shoreham couple we have never met. The closest documented day is Becky and Lucas, which ran from Horsham through to The Highdown, the same county and the same two people you would be booking. It is not Shoreham, and we are not going to dress it up as if it were, but it is an honest look at how we work across a full day rather than a set of staged sample shots.

    Before you book

    Common questions from Shoreham couples.

Have you photographed at Shoreham Airport or along the Adur before?

Not yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. Our documented weddings are a short drive along the coast rather than in Shoreham itself. For any venue we have not worked at, we go and visit ahead of the day so we already know the ceremony space, where the light falls off the water and the best spots for portraits before we turn up with you. An Art Deco terminal, an estuary spot or a Downs barn is a known quantity to plan around even on a first booking.

How do you handle the bright coastal light off the estuary and the sea?

Open coastal light is bright and bounces off the water, so it needs placing rather than fighting. We keep portraits with the light rather than straight into it, use the shade of the Art Deco terminal or the houseboats when the sun is high, and hold a little time back for the last hour when the light over the Adur turns silver and gold. Two of us means one can be reading the light while the other stays on you.

You are based near Chichester. Does travel to Shoreham cost extra?

Shoreham is about twenty-two miles east along the coast from Mudberry Lane and well inside the area we cover, so there is no separate travel charge for it. We would tell you upfront if a venue ever fell outside that, rather than adding it quietly later.
